Mandate:

To create and operate a community centre that is a communal space for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and organizations with structured programs.

Target Population:

2SLGBTQIA+ community members of all ages.

Highlights of Programs/Services Offered:

High Tea– A bi-weekly social gathering of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community of Newfoundland and Labrador over Zoom and in person (at Gower Street United Church) on Sunday from 2pm-3pm(NT). This is an open call for any member of our fabulous community to join our tea time. Talk about your fav shows, maybe a new activity you are looking forward to or just simply wanting to be around the community in a sit-down setting.  Grab your tea (coffee or beverage of choice) and let’s talk for an hour together.

Visibility Program – Thanks to the amazing folks at RBC Foundation and A Dollar A Day we’re able to offer a wide range of FREE items to help empower visibility of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in our province. Rather your a proud member, supportive individual or organization doing their part we want to help. We have stickers, pins, magnets, key chains and flags with more items like pronoun pins to be added to our stock soon.

Community OUT-ings – These community OUT-ings are FREE and for ALL AGES, and hostings includes picnics in the park, trips to museum (The Rooms and other places), walks and hikes and much much more. Be sure to check out our events page on our website and social media accounts for postings of upcoming community OUT-ings.

Wellness Wednesdays– Book your time by emailing Program Facilitator Lee Kelly at lee@thequadnl.com for Wellness Wednesday online one-on-one peer support. Each Wednesday between 10am-4pm(NT), join program Facilitator Lee Kelly online for 45-minute one-on-one peer support sessions.

Quadrangle Community Counselling Line– In partnership with The Jacob Puddister Memorial Foundation is offering province wide free counselling for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals from 2SLGBTQIA+ counsellors. Support can be accessed via phone, video, text or drop in by letting the counsellor know what method you’d like when they reach out, once your session is confirmed. Offering four (4) sixty (60) min sessions each Friday between 11am-3:30pm. There counselling session focus on three main lenses: 1) queer/trans theory, 2) trauma informed care, 3) person-centred counselling.  

This is drop-in style counselling and does not replace the need or value of working with a counsellor on an ongoing basis. Services thanks to funding from Bell Let’s Talk.

Short-Term Counselling with Quadrangle and the St. John’s Status Women Council (SJSWC) (The second round has opened!)– In partnership with with the St. John’s Status of Women Council (SJSWC) for 2SLGBTQIA+ community members by 2SLGBTQIA+ community members across Newfoundland and Labrador. Up to six free short term counselling sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 170 Cashin Avenue Extension. This space is wheelchair accessible and offers accessible parking. HIV Self-testing Kits– In partnership with Community-Based Research Centre we have some free HIV self-testing kits to support community. You will receive two self-test kits per order. These single use self-testing kits are manufactured by bioLytical and 99% accurate and in instant will provide a result only requiring one drop of blood and detects the earliest HIV antibody (IgM).

Please note: The self-test kits is not for individuals below the age of 18, taking Anti- Retroviral Treatment (ART), previously participated in a HIV vaccine study, individuals with a bleeding disorder, or afraid of needles. Sexual and Reproductive Health Awareness Pins This pin series was designed to spread awareness about sexual and reproductive health. It’s a collaboration between CBRC (Community-Based Research Centre) and Quadrangle NL through the Totally Outright Program. The “Femme”, “Gooped and Gagged” and “I Love Butt Stuff” pins are meant for people aged 18+.
