Mandate:

The Rooms is the largest public cultural space in Newfoundland and Labrador. It brings together the province’s history, art, and stories through its Archives, Art Gallery, and Museum. It’s a welcoming place where people can explore who we are and where we come from. The Rooms connects people to both the past and present, helping build a community that is inclusive, creative, and proud of its culture.

Highlights of Programs/Services Offered:

• The Rooms inspire people to learn, explore, and connect through exhibits featuring artifacts, nature, historical records, and artwork from Newfoundland and Labrador.  

• Youth can get involved in many fun and interactive programs, such as art workshops, youth group visits, and virtual exhibits that can be explored online.  

• The Rooms is working to stay accessible and affordable, and that’s why it offers free admission on the first Wednesday evening of every month (5-9pm) and free admission every Friday for post-secondary students with a valid student ID.  

• You don’t always need a ticket! Public spaces like the Atrium are free to enter, where you can enjoy amazing views of the Narrows or check out select exhibits. Level 2 offers tables and chairs that anyone is welcome to use for studying or relaxing.  

• For emerging artists: The Rooms offers opportunities such as artist-in-residence programs, the Provincial Art Bank Program, and guidance on submitting artwork for exhibitions.
