Mandate:

To work with local residents and public and private organizations to ensure comprehensive solutions to problems that impact our families. To provide opportunities and support in the process of individual and community capacity building to strengthen the community as a whole.

Members of the Rabbittown community and surrounding area.

Highlights of Programs/Services Offered:

Programs Offered:

• Afterschool Program: Runs from 2:30pm to 4:30pm from Monday to Friday. Children between the ages of 5-12 come an enjoy an afternoon of various educational activities, provided by staff and volunteers,
• Youth Program: Offered at the Centre Monday to Friday from 6:00pm-8:30pm. The program is open to Youth between ages 12-17.
• Adults Program: Events include grocery bingo, card games. Thursday Night Socials, Health Nuts (wellness program), Community Kitchens, Lunch and Learns, Sewing Club, 50+ Breakfast Club, and much more!
• Toddlers (0-5 Years): Rabbittown Community Centre provides parents with tots and expectant mothers with various learning opportunities in a relaxed environment. There are three programs that are currently offered: Parent & Tot Program, Pre-School Readiness, and our well-known Healthy Baby Club. For more information contact us via telephone (709) 739-8482.
• Wellness Program: The Wellness program is for community members who are looking for a chance to meet new people while getting active and learning important health and related information.
• Employment & Career Service: Employment services are available at the centre from Monday to Friday 9:00am-4:00pm. We offer resume writing, job search assistance, and program referrals. There is also a job board with new jobs and volunteer opportunities added weekly. If you are looking for work, interested in Adult Basic Education, or are attending college call (709) 739-8482 or drop by the centre and see us in person!
• Homework Haven: A customized tutoring program for youth aimed towards helping them in subject areas where they experience difficulty.
• Community Kitchens: A 8 week program where a group of community residents get together once a week and cook meals for their families. At the end of each day all meals are divided up and brought home to each members families. This program helps people learn how to cook new meals, budgeting, as well as great for socializing and meeting new people.
• Rabbittown Community Garden: We have a fairly large green space in the backyard of the Centre as we utilize as a community garden. The community comes together to grow a number of different types of plants and vegetables. At the end of the season we host a community harvest celebration and share out of the bounty with the families that participate.
