Mandate:

To provide craft & art training & education; to promote an increased awareness of and appreciation for craft and art.

Target Population:

The general public; as well as professional craftspeople and artists.

Highlights of Programs/Services Offered:

  • Classes: A wide range of evening classes including: sewing, quilting, embroidery, dye techniques, water colour, drawing, acrylic and more. Shorter weekend classes in silk painting, rug hooking, batik, paper making, etc.
    • Adult Classes: Classes in art, craft, sewing, stained glass, drawing, painting.
    • Youth Classes: Young artist program provides creative experiences for kids, with age groups ranging from 7-12, 10-14, and 13-17 years.  Class options include cartooning, drawing & painting, sewing, and textile arts.
    • Summer Camp: Fun Summer camp classes for kids and youth ages 8-17. Class options available are:
  • Full day art & craft summer camp for ages 8-12,
  • Half day summer camp painting & comic book classes for ages 9-12,
  • Full day summer camp print & sew classes for ages 10+, half day summer camp intro to sewing & sewing advanced level for ages 10+
  • Teen tuesday drawing, visible mending & weaving summer classes for ages 13-17

  • Knitting Group: Join us for free weekly knitting group on Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the Quidi Vidi Village Artisan Studios 10 Maple View Road. Join our Facebook group to stay up to date on our knitting group. If a night is cancelled for any reason it will be posted on this group and our social media.
  • Events: Lectures, artist presentations, and other special events happen throughout the year, often availing of visiting artists and craftspeople.
  • Projects: A wide range of projects for all age groups.
    • The Keepers of Craft: Designed to give seniors the mentorship skills and connections to volunteer with youth in their communities to pass down craft skills and ensure they are not lost.     • Quidi Vidi Village Artisan Studios: Craft Enterprise Program provides a vibrant focal point for visitors to the community through interaction with emerging craftspeople, and historical interpretation of the region; Emerging craftspeople may apply for a studio
