Mandate:

To help adults remove barriers to participating in their community. Barriers can include: mental health issues; addictions; poverty; criminal justice involvement; homelessness; low literacy; and periods of unemployment. Transforming lives through Real Homes, Real Help and Real Work. 

Target Population:

Men and women age 18 and older; women ages 18-29 (Naomi Centre).

Highlights of Programs/Services Offered:

Real Homes Program 

Real Homes: Safe, secure and stable housing is essential to wellbeing. Stella’s Circle helps address the need for affordable housing by offering more than 100 housing units to rent and supportive housing for those who need it. Programs include:

• Offers counselling, advocacy, and other support services to help people find secure housing  
• Open 9:00am-4:30pm; Monday-Friday 
• Monday to Thursday from 1:30-3:30 pm, we offer Housing Help – we invite anyone to drop in to ask questions of our staff or to use our resources to search for housing. 
• Accepts self-referrals or referrals from others including health care providers, family counselling agencies, government departments, or family and friends of individuals needing housing assistance. There is no application or form to complete; simply drop in or contact us for assistance.

• An emergency shelter that offers safe and supportive temporary housing for women aged 18-29 within a harm reduction model. 
• Accepts self-referrals or referrals from others including health care providers, family counselling agencies, government departments, or family and friends of individuals needing emergency housing.

• Transitional housing program for women 18+ in recovery 
• Up to three women share a house, live independently, and care for their own needs. 
• Accepts self-referrals or referrals from others. 

Mental Health

Offers a range of mental health and addictions services to underserved community members.

The mental health programs – whether in residential, community, or correctional facilities – are grounded in harm-reduction and trauma-informed care. We believe everyone can improve their lives with the right, personalized support.

Community Support Program: 

Offers the highest level of help to adults with complex mental health needs living in the community. We aim to reduce hospital visits and incarcerations, enhance housing stability, and improve overall quality of life.

Emmanuel House

Emmanuel House is the only community-based residential program for mental health and addictions in Newfoundland and Labrador. We offer individual and group counselling through long term stays and day treatment, and support participants as they transition back into the community.

Just Us Women’s Centre

Just Us Women’s Centre is the only program in the province dedicated to supporting women with criminal justice experience. At both the NL Corrections Centre for Women in Clarenville and in St. John’s, we provide individual and group counselling, release planning, advocacy, and other support services. 

Employment

Stella’s Circle believes that everyone has something valuable to contribute to their community. The organization recognizes that all individuals have the potential to work and benefit from meaningful employment. Through its employment and education programs, Stella’s Circle supports individuals in identifying their strengths and creating opportunities for work that aligns with their interests and goals.

Employment Services

Individual & Group Employment Services help people identify their own needs and goals to move toward work, school, and greater self-reliance. We assist participants in increasing their job readiness, discovering their skills, and preparing to enter the workforce.  

Social Enterprise Training offers job skills and hand-on learning at our social enterprises in food services, commercial cleaning, and construction trades. We also provide short-term, transitional work through CanDo! for adults facing significant barriers to employment.
