Our objective at SPANL is to provide supports for single parents, enabling them to regain control over their lives for the empowerment of themselves and their children.

Highlights of Programs/Services Offered:

• Food Bank
  • SPANL operates a food bank that provides single parent families with a food hamper every month.

• Single Parent Employment Support Program (SESP)
  • SESP is a program specifically designed to assist single parents across the province who need help getting started on their return to the workforce. SESP has successfully enabled over 1900 single parents to obtain employment.

• Margaret’s Closet
  • Currently undergoing an exciting revamp! Stay tuned.
• Job Board
  • Single parents can use the SPANL job board to search for new job opportunities. Any employers that notify SPANL of job posting will be listed on our job board page.
• Back to School Project
  • School-age children (in kindergarten-age 18) single parent families are provided with grade appropriate school supplies and book-bags. These kits are distributed in time for the start of the new school year in September.

• Christmas Magic
  • In partnership with many local businesses, organizations, and individuals, SPANL provides many single parent families with support during Christmas by supplying food and gifts.
• Crisis Intervention
  • SPANL offers support, assistance and/or referral to professionals, where necessary.
