Women in Resource Development Corporation (WRDC) is a provincial non-profit organization committed to increasing women’s participation in trades and technology.

Vision: Newfoundland and Labrador women are enabled and empowered to achieve successful careers in advanced technology and skilled trades

Highlights of Programs/Services Offered:

With both private and public funding, WRDC, and its Educational Resource Center (ERC), offer a variety of programs and services to address the challenges surrounding the attraction, recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in these sectors. WRDC offers these programs and services at no charge thanks to the support of Industry partners and the Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. WRDC key activities include: 

• Career Development: Providing women with exposure to career possibilities, helping them enroll and succeed in training programs, and assisting in job search and career advancement activities are essential to increasing women’s participation in trades and technology
• Career programs
• Gender & DEI Services: With 25+ years of experience, WRDC supports organizations in building more inclusive workplaces through tailored consultation, assessment, employee training, and workplace culture surveys. They offer expert guidance to identify strengths and opportunities, helping organizations meet their diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. Their research and evaluation team brings advanced education and deep expertise to support evidence-based strategies for sustainable change.
• STEMforGIRLS: STEMforGIRLS is WRDC’s initiative to engage girls in science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on learning, mentorship, and career exploration. The program promotes gender diversity in STEM by building confidence, awareness, and access—reaching youth across NL through in-person events and the new online Learning Lab launched in April 2025. It welcomes all who identify as girls or face gender-based discrimination.
